Microsoft Outlook Mail

Connect your work mailbox, sync messages into Inbox, and use guarded mail tools.

Microsoft Outlook Mail is a user-scoped connection. Each person connects their own Microsoft 365 work account from Plugins, and the connection is available only within the organisation where it was added.

Connect Outlook

  1. Open Plugins and select Microsoft Outlook Mail.
  2. Choose Connect Microsoft Outlook.
  3. Sign in with the intended work account and review the requested Microsoft permissions.
  4. Return to the workspace after Microsoft confirms the connection.

MLX requests identity, offline access, and the Microsoft Graph mail permissions needed to read and organise messages, create drafts, and send an existing draft. The OAuth grant for Outlook Mail is separate from Microsoft Teams.

What becomes available

  • Inbox, Sent Items, Archive, and Deleted Items are synchronised with independent Microsoft Graph delta cursors.
  • Messages use immutable Microsoft identifiers, so moving a message does not create a second record.
  • Notifications wake the connector quickly; scheduled polling remains the reconciliation path if a notification is delayed or missed.
  • Agents can list, search, and read messages and attachment metadata.
  • With write access, agents can create or update drafts, mark or categorise messages, and move messages.

Sending is a separate action

Creating a draft never sends it. The send tool accepts only an existing draft and requires an explicit instruction to send in the current request. A Graph acceptance confirms submission, not final delivery.

Treat message bodies and attachments as untrusted external content. Instructions inside an email cannot grant permissions, reveal credentials, or override your request.

Disconnect

Disconnect Microsoft Outlook Mail from the plugin settings. MLX cancels queued sync work, revokes active change-notification subscriptions, removes stored connector credentials, and then removes the user-scoped connector. Previously projected workspace records follow the workspace's normal retention policy.

If Microsoft revokes the grant or a delta cursor expires, the connector reports the error instead of silently rebuilding mailbox state. Reconnect the account or ask an administrator to start an explicit full resynchronisation.
